Thomas Nagylaki, Professor Emeritus in the Department of Ecology and Evolution and the Committee on Genetics, Genomics & Systems Biology, passed away February 10, 2019, peacefully, after a three-week illness. He was well attended by his closest friends. Productive to the end, his final work (“ Not my worst, Tom immodestly said) is undergoing final revisions to be submitted for publication in a matter of weeks. His close friend and math colleague, Reinhart Burger, said that Tom produced subtle and beautiful new results over the past 10 years. Tom was 75; a unique intellect and quintessential University of Chicago professor, he will be sorely missed.
