  • Anne Gomer, 1928-2023

    May 24, 2023

Anne Gomer (1928-2023), mother of Richard and Maria, and widow of former UChicago chemistry professor Robert Gomer (1924-2016), passed away on April 17. In 1996, after Robert retired as a professor emeritus, Anne and Robert started a tradition of interdisciplinary research talks held regularly at their home in Hyde Park. This series became the Robert and Anne Gomer Lecture Series, a fixture of the emeriti community that is continued today by the Emeriti Center. Anne was a supporter and volunteer for many functions of the University throughout her life, including chemistry student lectures, UChicago concert series, and UChicago Medicine. Her two children are alumni of the Laboratory School.
